First off, Entercom is not an "evil corporation". From what I have heard, they
are a very good place to work for. They treat their employees well and are
active in the community.
HOWEVER-----In this case a few employees at their station got DUMB, did
something REALLY STUPID and as a result, a young mother died.

I can not believe how so many of you blame the mother-all she did was enter a
contest-a contest that she believed was safe! She wsn't a doctor. She wasn't a
nurse. A nurse CALLED THEM warning that continuing this contest could be
harmful or FATAL to the contestants-and the Entercom employees laughed at her,
hung up and continued the contest. Callers called and egged them on-so did the
ENTERCOM EMPLOYEES!

If you allow companies to 'get out' from under things their employees do-where
does it end?

A jury ruled that Entercom employees were negligent and as a result, a young
mother died. They didn't put a value on her life of 16.5 million. They
determined that her survivors should be well taken care of. They made a
statement that employees doing DUMB things that result in young mothers dying
will be punished.

The turning point for me came when the nurse called. At that point it became
NEGLIGENCE!!
Actually, it was negligence before-a doctor should have been consulted BEFORE
the contest ever took place. Why do you think that reality network TV shows
ALWAYS have emergency crews IN PLACE at their filmings? Because of just this
possibility. These DJs were rank amateurs who played with fire and got
burnt-and a young mother died in the fire...

Quit being corporate trolls and see this for what it was-NEGLIGENCE on the
part of some Entercom employees.

We are on the same page, totally.

There are two poles here, it seems. We seem to be distributed between
them as a group.

There is no intent to speak ill of the dead. However, one end sees a
very foolish person who reaped exactly what she sowed, and died as a
result. If any of us engaged in similar behavior, we would have
expected exactly the same outcome and figured that we deserved it.

The other sees an evil corporation that preys on the weak in every
move it makes, and adds to the sum of human suffering both directly
and indirectly every single day.
