Thank you for making the point I was trying to make, better than I was
able to do.

I still feel like it's turning over control of your very life to
others to take the position that a waiver doesn't matter, and that
it's too important to let go without comment.

Personal responsibility, at least in my definition of it, always
applies.  You are always responsible, or at least you should be.
Society itself collapses when nobody is responsible, and I think we're
beginning to see some of that.

In the event you are incapacitated, you have the responsibility of
having previously appointed someone who understands and will respect
your wishes.  When you die, you should have a will.

Surely a bunch of engineers, representing some of the last of the
thinkers on this planet, can at least agree that the flip side of our
rights is our responsibilities.  We can't shirk our responsibilities
and expect our rights to remain inviolate.
