Our kid's doctor (1970s) told us to not give them anything dairy-based when
they had sore throats, sinus infections, etc.  He said that milk and yogurt,
etc. make ideal culture media for bacteria growth and tend to produce
copious amounts of phlegm.  I think it was good advice.

too.  Don't spit it out -- swallow it!  That helped me before, when I had
laryngitis so bad I could hardly swallow.  I prefer Campbell's Cream of
Chicken Soup.
