Paul,
Whatever it is, it is likely to be FAR more valuable in its present form
than if sold for scrap. Please try to identify it if at all possible. If it
isn't marked on the spool somewhere, can you see the cable itself? If it's
got one of those carboard covers, tear into it. See if there writing on the
cable. Write it all down and then post it here. Also describe the cable.
Color (black? silver? gray?), material (plastic jacket? metallic?),
approximate diameter would all be helpful. If you can see an end of the
cable, can you tell what's in it? Multiple smaller wires, or a large center
conductor and foam, for example.
If no one claims it, and we can identify it, you might be able to sell it
and make the station some money.
