Since the guying system is more than 35 years old, you should consider
replacing the guying system i the next few years. While guy lines are
hearty items, they don't have an infinite life span. Especially once rust
starts creeping into the areas which never really dry out. This is
especially the case on smaller guy lines (3/8" and less where the strands
are MUCH smaller).
Bridge strand and larger EHS cables aren't as prone to this problem as
their strands are MUCH bigger.
A competent tower person needs to look at them high up. Their condition
at ground elevation is never as bad as at higher elevations where water is
often "rammed" into the line by high winds.
