FWIW, at WCJW our two Utility towers have a clevis (with bent bolt) on
the bottom of the insulator at each of the guy anchor turnbuckles and
preform grips at each of the other insulators (grey porcelain
johnny-balls). They have been guyed this way since 1973 with no
failures.
I'm really more concerned about a problem with the preforms because we
have an older version with only three strands passing through the
insulator. If one strand should break, that leaves two -- and they
are much thinner than the clevis bolt.
