We use these Joslyn clevises all the time on various rigging situations.
We wouldn't use them through Johnny ball insulators though. A preformed
guy grip works best for that.
The bolt on them is curved, as shown in the link posted earlier today.
They look like they've been abused, but they're made with a curve in
them.
My Joslyn catalog describes them as, "Joslyn Heavy Strain Insulator
Clevises are forged from 1/2-inch diameter steel with a 1/2-inch curved
bolt complete with Anco lock nut. Minimum ultimate strength is 12,400
pounds."
We have used them at points where multiple cables converge to a single
anchor or pull-off point. Of course these are situations where the
loads are relatively low, such as in a skirt kit or in the rigging of a
small shortwave antenna. We wouldn't guy towers with them unless it
were a pretty small tower with low guy tensions.

the cross-bolt on a clevis is *NOT *supposed to be bent.
Can you say "run as fast as I can?"
The clevis has been deformed by stress and is close to
failure. _*Do not bet your life on this Wink Link!!
