I think what's been missed here is the computers of the client were VISTA
HOME. The HOME versions don't recognize domain controllers.  Which is
where most network storage is either housed, controlled, or provisioned
these days.

I agree that Vista HOME's inability to store to even a peer to peer
NETWORK connected drive is a terrible defect. But Richard's main gripe is
he had to eat the time for computers which would NEVER have worked in the
first place.
