[BC] The first 'white space' project

Does it matter? Fact is that they are using this for the 'middle mile'-the
long link between the ISP and the community. This means that as I suspected
all along, white space technology can operate on longer links of 10-30 miles
and serve as the pipe to get the internet to a community. Once there, it can
be distributed by DSL, wifi, etc. 

Wimax is licenser and regulated. This is not. This will be a consumer product
soon. Does Richard's friend want a relaible path across the lake? Soon he will
have one.

This article leaves lots of questions unanswered.  Does this provide service
to individual
homes or is it just a handful of businesses and the school?  What about range
and how does it work in hilly/mountainous terrain?  Why not just go with
Wimax?
