Of course, this means it will never actually be used. Once again, where was the NAB? How come a protocol exists that we are not seeing used for the benefit of broadcast?? I think including this might be more useful than forcing Zunes and IPods to have FM Tuners.
(Internet Protocol) IPv5 is an extension of IPv4 (what we all use now for anything IP) designed specifically for streaming of audio and video. It was apparently expected early on that such a need for widespread 'broadcast' would occur.
There appears to be no plan to deploy the standard. Instead, IPv6 is coming our way. From what I have read, there are claims that IPv6 addressing and header style will eliminate the need for network concerns about real time.
