I would have had a camera with an extreme wide-angle lens to get anything,
anyway. The guy I was with, Bob Davis (David Kottkamp) cut our tour short
as he had to get back to Amarillo to pull an air shift. On the way back, on
Route 66, we went through a town that had a tornado go through downtown. El
Reno or Elk City, I can't remember which. Just a swath of destruction
through the town. I took over driving his hotted-up `55 Oldsmobile, staying
somwhere near the speed limit, when he woke up, noted the time and said I
had to speed up to get him to work on time. So I took it up to 120, but had
to slow down to 110 around the curves, and made it back in time.
