[BC] Satellite Inet issues

I think folks are missing the point here.  RF issues are only one domain of concern.  While it may be valid to discuss path loss concerns with regard to use of satellite internet, that issue, which is mostly weather, is neglible in a proper install.

 

The bigger issue for streaming over satellite is the same as for streaming via cable modem.  It is the shared nature of the service.  In my experience, satellite internet service does not properly support streaming because the upload abilities are compromised to achieve robust and high download speeds.

 

We could always tell when there was breaking news of a global issue because timeouts became more frequent.

 

I would be interested if anyone had better luck than we did with attempts to stream over consumer satellite connections to Internet.
