But if we're comparing $300 wifi kits to the kind of gear you're
describing... well isn't that kind of like comparing an outboard boat
motor to a tugboat? Sure, they both power vessels on the water, but
you'd no more tow a big barge with your Evinrude than you would waterski
behind your tug!
With most unlicensed gear that I've run across, you're going to run into
some fairly severe limitations with distance and environmental
conditions. It takes a pretty decent investment in equipment to buy
your way around those issues. I just keep going back to if T1 is
available for Kevin's case, and the project is anything other than
tinkering or hobby, that is the way I would go.
Oh, and I was really looking for an excuse to say Evinrude today. It's
fun to say.
PS: I know you just silently said Evinrude in your head.
