I canned my LJ4simx about a month ago - still sitting in the garage. It was too big and too heavy and the rollers needed to be replaced. Although you can get a rebuild kit, it was not worth it. I found a HP 2300DN with a lower paper tray locally through eBay for $70. It is much faster and has a real power-save mode. EBay is also a good place to pick up toner cartridges cheaply.

I continue to be amazed at how well our LJ 4 runs. Our bookkeeper does all
her routine printing of reports and records on it and it just keeps on
working. We get our cartridges from a service that rebuilds them, and
generally that works fine until they try one time too many. I'm sure we're
paying under $50 for them.
I see there are places that want $100 for a new one. That's a raw deal for
sure.
