I have been following this thread a bit.
a few things bother me about this...
a newspaper article said he quoted that his stations tower was less
than 100 feet and it was setup like an amateur station. so its not a
telecomunications tower which are much taller.
He also stated that his neighbor across the street who is an
amateur radio operator can have the same type tower and the city was
not busting his horns..
I feel this is the game of telephone where information was crossed.
Now as for the calls KVTS being licensed to the next town of republic
this is no big deal as long as the transmitter is at the correct
lat and Long.
My LPFM is licensed to the city of Arrowhead Village, NJ
The city was merged into a larger township of Brick, and no longer
exists yet its still on U.S. Survey maps. So the FCC licensed it.
The one item that really bother me about his operation.
He said he lowered the tower by 20 feet to make the city happy.. I
thought you can only move an antenna plus /minus 3 meters( about 9
feet) without filing for a Minor change. Either that or he had the
antenna at the wrong height in the first place?.
The license states that the antenna is an SWR FM-1/1
and thats exactly what it looked like at the top of the tower..
however an older version of the antenna.
SWR now make the antenna a litle Different.. I know I have a few
of them at some non-comms..
