[BC] Long Distance telephone Service

I have the same problem at home: No cable service available for a cablemodem, the only internet access is through the phone company (800Kbs DSL is $55/mo). We chose MCI for our long distance provider. We have to use a dial around to call intra-lata (1010222+ digit number), but inter-lata is the regular 11 digit number. The plan we're on is 200 minutes for $13/mo. When my sons were in Iraq we used mobilecaller.com for affordable LD (they couldn't get fast enough connections to use Skype). Mobilecaller has US plans also. You dial an 800# to access their routing. Pennytalk.com advertises cheap LD rates. Skype works, $3/mo for unlimited US calls, PC to PC calls are free worldwide. Since you already have a landline you wouldn't need the call-in feature.

My DSL provider does NOT offer Dry, No DialTone DSL... and any cellular
broadband (if I could get it) is slower then my already slow DSL.
