The sender has the option to save the file as a .doc.  In the save area it's
listed as Word Documents 97-2003.

Barry, do you or anyone  else on the list know the extension used by Office 
2007?  I've been  receiving an increasing number of attachments recently at 
work with the  extension *.docx rather than the standard Winders Orifice
*.doc
 
I'm using Office 2003 running on Win2000.  Upgrading is not an  option.  If 
it's something I want the current solution is to ask the  sender to send as
a 
plain document or cut'n'paste into the body of the  email.
 
If the problem with *.docx files is because of formatting unique to  Office 
2007, it is a prime example of newer isn't always better if it  isn't
backwards 
compatible.
