[BC] Could our concept of audio be all wrong?

Apparently there was some good marketing for mp3  (and now i-Tunes).  I wonder if the non-technical public had the misconception that mp3 was actually BETTER digital that allowed them to store more on a given device.  My oldest son, who is not interested in radio or audio, eventually said that his mp3 player didn't sound good.

AND:  A question for Robert Orban.  I've never heard a story about how the name "8000" came about.  I know how "Optimod" came about, just not the model number.

Thanks!
