[BC] STL -8 repair

OK ... I really hate to say this, but folks, this thread is starting 
to play out exactly the opposite way it should.

The original poster asked about parts in his STL-8 that he should 
look at to solve an apparent frequency drift situation.

What he got was a snarky comment about the unit and several 
suggestions of where to send it.

That doesn't help someone who is trying to troubleshoot a problem unit.

Perhaps you wouldn't spend a minute with an STL-8, either because you 
had a bad experience with one, don't understand how to work on it, or 
you have plenty of money and would just replace it. That is fine for you.

However, none of that helps the original poster.

Can anyone speak to the original question: what parts should he check/change?

We have a lot of great expertise on this list.  Can't we help him?
