Ah, yes -- The Ampex PR-10. . .

. . . had only one motor, which drove the capstan and both
reel spindles with belts. Unusual, in that it used "eddy
current clutches" to drive the reels, using the same kind
of science as the faraday disc in a standard Watt-Hour
meter such as is hanging on the outside wall of most
buildings today.
I had one, also, and used it to record my rock band
performing "Love Is A Beautiful Thing" in a 10-by-40
house trailer back in 1969:

That's me singing lead and playing organ. We bounced
back and forth from track to track about 4 times to get
all that sound in there. I really miss it. . .
