Good one Ernie. I am sure there are hundreds of others ...

For me, I was working for GE on the Apollo Program (NASA) GE did the ground check test system. I interviewed at a bunch of stations to get out of the factory work. Had 1st ticket in had.

Got a call about 5:30 (after GE work) by WTRR (AM) in Sanford FL and asked I still wanted to do engineering if half my time was announcing. I said was interested. Then they said can you start tonight? I thought for maybe two seconds and said yes, but only the announce job for two weeks so I could give notice at GE. Two weeks later I was full time.

When i asked why the hurry up hire, I was told the previous guy had been locked up in jail again and thy were tired of bailing him out. He sat in jail and I took over his gig. And the rest.....
