I heard this story somewhere, about a difficult proof in progress (you 
know the ones were you have to come back several times in a few weeks)
They were marking Trees on the side of the road with blue paint, when 
they returned a couple days later they couldn't find the tree or their 
mark. So they would end up remarking, only to have the situation repeat. 
They finally noticed new tree stumps at each "Missing" point. I turns 
out the mark they were using was the same as one that was used to mark 
trees for removal by a timber Co.
