On a station here, a radial passed through the then Inland Steel plant
along Lake Michigan. The plant was so big it had it's own bridge over a
rail yard and we could easily get 3 fully spaced points (and as many as 5)
along the radial on the bridge and the plant going out to the
lakefront. They would have been wonderful points.
We called the plant manager asking permission and he flat our refused under
any circumstances short of a court order. While we did get the point on
the bridge, we could not get the other two. From what I recall of the
original proof, they needed to go out onto the Lake to get more points on
that radial as a result.
I have another station with 5 radials which pass through what will be
Lincoln Airport if/when it's built. All points on those radials within 5
miles, including 2 MP's, will be next to inaccessible without carefully
arranging with the airport authority. Fortunately, we did the last partial
with GPS. So locating the points will not the problem. The real challenge
will be convincing them we need to go onto an active runway for the
points..... ;-)
