[BC] Omaha detonates ham gear

The scenario is this: Some TV writer creates some weird
contraption made from LEDs and other junk obtained from
Radio Shack. They flash and twinkle to make idiots think
it's some kind of bomb arming device. They put this thing
on some cylinder made from a junked oxygen bottle and call
it a nuclear bomb. The idiots on the police force and on
the judicial bench eat this stuff up.

Somebody comes up with an advertising campaign using these
flashing LED widgets. They scatter them all around the city
of Boston as part of their promotion. They are put everywhere
that traffic might get backed up during the morning commute.
The cops see these things, blow them up, and arrest the poor
slobs who were paid $10.00 per hour to put these things everywhere
they could. There were three six-month jail sentences and over
$10 million in fines as a result of this --true story. The police
will do this again if they get a chance because it makes money
for the city and gets the troublesome entrepreneurs off the
streets.

No, they err on the side of idiocy.

Cheers,

When a suspicious object is encountered, to err
on the side of caution and safety prevails.
