Looks like there's some chance there might be an assembly you can order from
Sony as a replacement. On the exploded view "rear section" parts for the
MDSE11 it shows the whole assembly as #51. Instead of a price there is an
800 number to call for availability.
I let my curiosity take me through too many clicks but I couldn't quite
bring myself to call the 800 number listed on the page.
I hope it's fixable--that's a nice unit. One of those babies was my
"time-shift recorder" at WNWC before the computer(s) took over the job. I
used up a couple of consumer-grade "stereo system" units before buying the
industrial-duty machine. It never let me down though I think we had maybe
two years of daily use on it before we transitioned to the computer (about
the same time we transitioned to the Unity 4000).
