Seems to me this is deja vu all over again. Did we learn nothing
from creating two different types of broadcast services in the
same band about 60 years ago? Why would you expect EXB stations
to behave differently from AM daytimers? First you get the
station and then begin the political war for "parity." Then, to
give an appearance of parity you degrade allocation standards to
the lowest common denominator. That is the political reality.
Another problem with EXB is spelled - low auction income.
Finally skip increases as frequency decreases.
Against those problems, what political support does EXB have?
IOW, it may be a fine idea, but holding your breath until this
movement gets serious attention from the Commish may not be
the smartest idea.
OTOH, aviation and maritime use of LW and MW below 530 kHz
is vanishing while those frequencies have little value
except for broadcasting and would work well in a purely
digital mode such as DRM. It is something to consider.
