there was an episode of LOST IN SPACE that also mentions a small 
floppy disc.. WILL and PENNY ROBINSON were kind of prisoners in the 
episode, and the cage owner asked them what they would like for 
entertainment.ey said music, then poof there is an old 3 speed record 
player and a stack of 78's.
WILL then said we don't play those anymore, our grandmother used to play those.

Years ago in Radio World, I predicted *exactly* what the future of 
high-density, high-fidelity storage was going to be: little blocks of 
maple, painted yellow.

Don't believe me? Go back and watch any episode of classic "Star 
Trek". Notice all those little pieces of removable media they are 
stuffing into computers, tricorders, food replicators etc? Little 
blocks of maple, painted yellow!  They even gave a nostalgic nod to 
the old days by calling them "tapes".
