Years ago in Radio World, I predicted *exactly* what the future of high-density, high-fidelity storage was going to be: little blocks of maple, painted yellow.

Don't believe me? Go back and watch any episode of classic "Star Trek". Notice all those little pieces of removable media they are stuffing into computers, tricorders, food replicators etc? Little blocks of maple, painted yellow! They even gave a nostalgic nod to the old days by calling them "tapes".

Star Trek has already given us flip-phone cellulars, no-contact medical diagnostic equipment and the space shuttle Enterprise, on permanent display here in the Washington DC area. "Maple Media" is next, just you wait.

So let's all play our LPs backwards, draw green circles around our CDs, clip our composites, sample & hold and just enjoy life and music. By the time the year 2265 rolls around, my descendants will be reaping the benefits of the maple stand I am planting now. See you in the future.
