The answer is this: This radio was made to sell for 200 dollars-and now they
can't even get HALF that for it-so now they are selling them almost at a loss.
What should really bother you is this-if you read the thread, many there
aren't interested in this one. Instead, they want the one that costs 20
dollars more, because it has a USB slot so they can play their MP3s off their
pen drives in the car!
In other words, the more popular car radio is desired so they don't have to
use its radio function!

At both places, the big challenge has been a lack of receiver
availability, so the $38 car stereos and the $49 Sony XDR-F1HDs have
been welcomed with open arms...
