I am trying to figure out what is going on with KTTO's (ex KREM-970)
taller antenna. It has three insulated sections. The lowest section is
305 feet tall and at night the upper portion of the tower is used with a
second tower also at 305 feet to make a directional array. However, the
upper portion is sectionalized twice. (maybe three times depending how
you look at it.). There is a top-mounted TV array that is not used and a
side mounted FM array that is also not being used. The tower's total
height is 712 feet, including the TV array. The AM portion is 663 feet
high. However, there is a insulating joint at 487 feet. From what I
understand, the TV and the FM are no longer being used as axillary
units. The main TV and FM transmitter is located else.

My questions are: Why are there three sections for the AM portion? If
this is a Franklin antenna, why are the dimensions unbalanced?

I have other questions about this antenna set up, but they will wait.
