I have a client who successfully upgraded one of these boxes with the new
IPA, new grid circuit and new tube socket, and it sings like a little
birdy.
Of course, they had owned it since it was new, so
there was not old transmitter to buy, no packing, loading, unloading and
installing, and since they had owned it since it was a baby, they knew all
of it's stresses throughout it's life.
But, it sounds much better, has much lower Incidental AM, and the IAM is
doesn't drift over time.
The owner thinks it was a good investment to upgrade, rather than buy new.
