[BC] RCA phono plugs - How far back?

grounded?

I had one - an old Philco, IIRC - that i attached a long (random-length) 
antenna to... and it didn't work until I thought to ground the chassis 
to the cold water pipe.

BTW - I suspect the reason that "cold water pipe ground" is no longer 
"code" is in part due to the pipe being PVC, rather than steel...
