Yes, "The Big 8" regularly gave Cleveland stations a run for their  
money, even back in the sixties when "WIXY 1260" was the dominant  
station...at least in the high schools.

Remember meeting Ed at a Canadian Broadcasters meeting in Windsor in  
the early 80's.  Probably the same meeting you remember.  Also met  
Greg Ogonowski at that  meeting.  Ended up driving him over to  
Greenville, Michigan so he could install his stereo processor at a new  
Motorola AM stereo install.  They were using an old kilowatt  
high-level tube rig (either an RCA or Harris), myth at that time was  
that the Motorola system wouldn't work well with such rigs.  Also  
remember delivering Greg back to his hotel room in Windsor at 4 in the  
morning. Canadian customs were not as friendly that time of the morning.
