[BC] RCA phono plugs - How far back?

My 1946 Philco console has a 78 player with RCA connector. Model 46-1209. 
I have hooked up a Cassette player to it. I could <ahem!> hook up a HD tuner to it.... 
It's interesting that the AM tunes to 1750 on it.
