I recall a Philco Console radio with a 78 rpm changer made in the late '40's
that had a RCA pin type connector. After the introduction of the 45 rpm
record by RCA nearly all of their products had a RCA female pin jack on the back
of radios and TV's to allow the using the small table top RCA 45 rpm Changer
which sold for about $25.00. In my case I unplugged the old 78 changer in the
Philco console and plugge in the RCA 45 changer. Audio wasn't as goo probably
due to equalization of cartridge type. We compensated with the tone controls
and it was satisfactory.
