The recently deceased Alaska Broadcast Pioneer founded KFAR in
Fairbanks in 1939, I think. I do know that before signon on December
7th 1941 he was listening to KGMB in Honolulu and heard the
announcement of the attack. Actually he first heard the announcement
for all military personal to return to duty immediately and then news
of the attack. He immediately signed on KFAR and announced the
attack to Fairbanks and the interior of Alaska.

>>I have a request to the historians of the list,(Donna-Scott etc)I can't
>>seem to find much info on what local radio did during the attack on Pearl
>>Harbor. All I can find is the military authorities asked(told) the
>>stations to get off the air before noon and KGMB suplied reports to CBS.
>>If you can point me in the right direction, I'd like to try my hand at
>>writing an article if there is enough data. Mahalo.
