[BC] Transmitter Safety

Hello All,
I know it sounds crazy, but aside from safety reasons I lock out
equipment when I am working on it alone because it makes me think
just a little more. When I am taking the lock off it makes sure I
slow down a little and think about what I am about to do. An example
of this is the TV transmitter we have. We can run half of it for
maintence and work on the other half completly de-energized. Where
the lock out comes into play is that all of the fused disconnets and
breakers are right beside each other for the power to supply the two
cabinets and blowers. It would be real easy to accidently grab the
wrong one and take the section of the transmitter that is on the air
off the air. I have not done this but it is a nice bit of insurance
too keep me from doing this. The other things is if I do wrongfully
get my self into a situation where I am tired and am working on the
equipment it again is cheap insurance to help me from doing something
that I may regret. And yes sometimes I do feel sillly doing it,
especially when someone else arrives and sees it.
Anyway just my two cents.
Dave
Lockout/tag-out when I'm the only person on site? Can you say
"busy work?" Sure, I knew you could! Go through the motions, and to
hell with whether or not the effort is
effective or not. The US government, at your disservice.
