nearest I ever came was in trying to measure the AC volts on the 
grids of the modulators
in a 1G

I taped the red lead of my trusty Simpson 260, set on 250VAC, to a 
wooden yardstick and
reached in to    ZAPPPPPPPPPPPPP...oops, that was the plate cap, not the
grid........smoked the rear range switch wafer and vaporized the 
glass fuse in the 260

hey Dan, did you soil yourself the first time you hit the FIL ON 
switch of the MW-5 and
those HV shorting solenoids slammed into the frames ?
