Surprisingly, Febreze ! It's a great repellent.
Discovered quite by accident by my ( former ) woman in a panic
to spray SOMETHING on a newly discovered infestation
about a year ago.
I'm inclined to the pyrethrin based flea and tick stuff, though you
pretty much need to get it in place BEFORE they appear. It's residual
for about 90 days, and bio-degrades in that time.
It's extremely toxic to cats, so be aware of that.
Pyrethrins are fatal to about all insects, though getting tough to find
in sufficient concentrations. The pro's use something like 27%
while us mere mortals can't buy it above 2 or 3 percent.
Like almost anything, there is residue from both of these.
Gasoline works really well, too, but I don't recommend it for
reasons that should be obvious.
