Well.. OK. Usually there are two IDE channels, 0 and 1 (or 1 and 2 on
some mother boards).
The default is to boot on the "master" or lowest device number, on the
lowest numbered IDE channel.
You could just put the one drive with your needed files in (have only 1
drive) and it shoudl boot.. possibly to safe mode.. what version of Windows?
The sound may not work, because of driver differences from the install
vs your "new" mother board, but it should boot up enough for you to copy
files.
Or, boot on this PC's original drive, have the 2nd drive in place of the
CD drive temporarily.. one drive per IDE channel.
Possibly you are trying Cable Select, but the cable has all pins -
meaning you must manuall set master and slave for two devices on the
same IDE channel's cable.
