Zara will do "Timed Events" - that's about the only way to do it... and 
trust the network to stay on time......... (Yeah, right!)

SPL Studio will both accept and send control signals via the LPT port - 
even on a Win2K box (or later) that doesn't "allow" the software direct 
access to the hardware...

Works great; I have it interfaced to an AudioArts A-50 board.
