I have read of several law cases where Google submitted web search 
records to the investigating authorities. For instance there was a case 
where a spouse was convicted of doing in her husband and Google provided 
records of her computer being used to search for how to get away with 
such things. These days it seems that if there is any circumstantial 
evidence, well then you are legally toast.
