Hello all,
I just read page 14 of this week’s Wireless Review, a.k.a.
Telephony. It talks about a new “mobile data extraction
device” that, when connected to your cell-phone via the
power plug, apparently not just a “power” plug, will allow
law enforcement persons to extract everything you have
ever done on your cell-phone. Contrary to popular belief,
what you’ve done, the persons you have contacted, and
the places you’ve been (if GPS enabled), are not stored
on your internal memory card. The important things are
stored in (name your vendor) databases, providing law
enforcement unlimited access to the information you
might have thought was private.

I was thinking of getting a cell-phone. Now I’m sure I
don’t want one. I do not want anybody to know where
I am going, who I am talking to, how many hours I’ve
spent at my house, at work, on-the-road, etc., nor where
I’m going to be next weekend. It’s not because I am
planning to nuke the universe, it’s just because I plan
to remain American.
