[BC] TRANSMITTER NEEDED on 1360Khz

There is no such thing as an easily tunable box on AM. You need a vector
analyzer at minimum to set the output network and traps. Plus any specific
range mods to bring it to 1360. Which only adds to the cost of a used box.
If the station took a lightning hit and the TX is THAT badly damaged, their
insurance might pay a substantial portion for a new box. A new 6KW box is
$30-35K. Most manufacturers generally have a box of each size in the pipe
line and can rush one out if needed in a case like this. Then it's ready
to go on the air minute one..no fuss. (Sorry Larry {GR}) And it will likely
sound better on the air too....
Oh...and where is their back-up? Unless it too got fried.....In today's
business world, there is no excuse for not having some form of back-up for
mission critical equipment. Yes, there is a diminishing point of returns
and a "what's it worth to you" question only the owners can answer. But
with a TX, one would think THAT would be something backed up. Even in
market BFE. Otherwise, if the owner declined to have that in-house revenue
insurance policy known as a back-up, they only have themselves to blame for
being in that predicament.
