Thanks, Tom - but I get my listserver email through Windows Live, so it's not an Outlook or OE issue - I find I can keep better track this way and I can spend a weekend with the family and not worry about overloading the Outlook Exchange server with list traffic if I decide to take a day or two off the lists :)  Now, if there is a way to check Windows Live email through Thunderbird, I'm certainly open to suggestions, although we probably should take it offlist :)  If I remember to switch to plain text, I don't have the problem, it's only when I'm overtired and try to leave it in rich text mode... switching to Linux looks better every day!
