For machined contact connectors, you might also try Allied Electronics
(http://www.alliedelec.com/) (just enter the term "machined crimp" in the
search field to see what they have). Mouser Electronics
(http://www.mouser.com/) has some items but very few. I gave up on Newark
Electronics (http://www.newark.com/) years ago because of their
shipping/handling pricing policy (upwards of 25% of the cost of small order)
but have noticed they have finally changed that. The first two distributors
also provide a considerable amount of parts for all of my station
operations. I seldom order replacement parts from equipment manufacturers
due to their higher markup pricing.
Yes, you will be taken to the cleaners for the price of a related crimp
tool. I just priced a 6-indent style for $625. I suspect it is being
manufactured somewhere in the middle east by some oil producer :)
