Yes, I have. They don't work very well. The alligator clips are too small,
and just when you have everything positioned just right, one of the clips
lets loose, and you gotta start all over again. About all they're good for
holding is the connector. Never been able to get them to hold the wire
properly.

IMO, D-sub solder connectors are the work of the devil  :)

My predecessor(s) at my current job used a lot of them. If I have to re-do
one, I'll cut the solder connector off completely and do a crimp one before
I try to solder it. I despise those things.
