The problem is that it won't fix the problem! The fines will just
increase the cost of the goods and be passed on to the
consumers.
What the federal government needs to do is to license
COO, CEO, and other corporate executives. Then, when they
violate the law, they get their tickets revoked and can't work
in that position until their licenses are reinstated.
Look for an increase of American Airlines air fares because
they just had to pay a fine to the FAA.

On my upcoming trip to "Lost Wages," I'm going to help pay
that fine. BTW, I made reservations two months ago and the
airfare has already been paid using American Express. I just
got a notice that they will charge my American Express another
$180 because of the airfare increase. I wrote them back saying
that they will be charged with theft if they make an authorized
charge to my charge card. I wonder what they will do. Anyway,
if that increased charge shows up on my American Express,
I will refuse to pay and let AMEX handle the hassle.
