[BC] Personalities becoming Owners?

I believe Gene Autry also owned 101.9 in Glendale, CA (when it was
KLIT), and through his political influence, managed to obtain a major
waiver of FCC rules to exceed the Class B power limit atop Mt. Wilson.
 The rationale was to improve 70 dBu service to Glendale, however the
power increase was authorized in all directions, not just towards the
COL.  Wasn't the real coverage problem in Orange County?
