That 540 was turned off because its owner, Sol Levine got an X band station
(1650) right in Los Angeles for it.
He diplexed it on some other station's tower, then sold it for 35 million....
That 540 was GPS locked with the Mexico 540, which Sol has LMAed for many
years. The 540 in
Mexico is 1 kW Non D full time. Both 540s simulcast the 1260 which Sol also
owns.
He also owns 105.1 in LA amd 1510 (1550?) in the bay area-with 4 tower a DA on
a roof.

Dark circa 2000... There is now a 540 south of the border that simulcast
1260 from LA.
It was (I think) 25 kW DA-D with a CH and DA-N at a much lower power.
